The Beaches and Roque de la Bonanza

Las Playas Bay is sometimes called "a lost corner on a lost island". This is the impression you get, when, after leaving the tunnel connecting Las Playas with the rest of the island, you see a dozen white houses, three black beaches

and the silhouette of elegant parades looming on the horizon. Undoubtedly, the greatest attraction of the picturesque bay is the intriguing rock formation called Roque de Bonanza emerging by the shore. Interesting form and beautiful location make it, that the 200-meter high Rock of Prosperity is the most photographed place on the island and one of its important symbols. If anyone wants to see Roque de Bonanza from a slightly different perspective, should go on a trip to the viewpoints Mirador de Isora and Mirador de las Playas. The picturesque bay can only be reached by the road that runs along the east coast from Puerto de la Estaca to the Parador Naciortal Hotel. Right in front of Las Playas, you drive through a one-way tunnel, facing the only ones (!) signal lights on the island. A statue of a man was erected just before the entrance to the tunnel from the Las Playas Bay side, who, with a rose in their hand and their eyes fixed on the horizon, await the return of their beloved. The only one, but by the way, the best place to stay on the island is the Parador Naciortal de Turismo. Surrounded by greenery, this elegant hotel with a swimming pool is located right by the sea. The hotel's restaurant is considered to be one of the best on the island – However, the dishes of the new Canarian cuisine served here are not the cheapest. You can eat much cheaper in the nearby Bohema restaurant.
