Orientation

Tenerife is symbolically divided into three parts: the green north, sunburnt south and volcanic center, crowned by the mighty Teide volcano. Numbering little more than 2000 km2 of the area of the island is the largest in the archipelago – in practice it means, that it is about four times smaller than the Opolskie Voivodeship, and four times larger than Warsaw, making, that in a few days you can visit practically the entire area.

North and South are so different, like water and fire. On the north, where it often rains, mainly islanders live and relax. The most charming and traditional towns and villages are also located there, such as the first capital, The lagoon, famous for its beautiful 17th-century tenement houses, la Orotava or the fishing port of Garachico. The sunburned south is less populated, not counting, of course, several million tourists a year, who in search of sun come to the resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa Amćricas. Difficult conditions did not favor settlement, therefore, there are fewer monuments of architecture or art. Many people choose to stay in the south of the island, because of the guaranteed sun and good weather and the possibility; arranging day trips to various parts of the island.
