Beautiful valley

Steep green slopes, rocky terraces planted with banana trees and palm trees, clusters of white houses…. The valley in the north of the island (valle) you can undoubtedly call it beautiful (handsome). Its characteristic point is the mighty Roque Cano, which in the words of a local poet: “God has put on a beautiful guard valley, so that no one would dare to touch her ". The name Vallehermoso also refers to a small one (ok. 1,5 thousand. residents) locality, lying roughly in the middle of the valley.

Vallehermoso is a good base for hiking in the Highlands, however, there are also a few attractions on site. The only monument of the city, outside the traditional buildings, jest neogotycka Church of St. John the Baptist (dojście z Constitution Square Main Street). Those interested in botany can visit the Jardm Botanico del Descubrimiento at the foot of Roque Cano.

2 km from the city stretches the black sandy Playa de Vallehermoso, and next to it the municipal swimming pool Parque Mantimo. Castillo del Mar rises at the northern end of the beach, beautifully renovated building of the former banana packing plant. From the terrace you can see the Teide volcano, which in good weather seems to be at your fingertips. Numerous concerts and exhibitions take place in the castle. Despite its small size, visitors to Vallehermoso will find all the amenities they need. The tourist information office is located to the right of the town hall building. There is also a police station in the town, clinic and minimarket Spar. Behind the town hall, to the right, at Mercadillo de agricultor you can buy local food products as well as fresh vegetables and fruits. The City Hall also houses the Centro de Artesanal de Vallehermoso, where you can buy handicrafts from La Gomera. Buses depart from the small station at the end of Avda. Guillermo Ascanjo Moreno (ok. 5 min walk from Plaza de la Constitución) and from the stops at Plaza de la Constitución. Vallehermoso has a fairly large base. In the town itself, you can stay in Pensión Amaya for little money, Pensión Vallehermoso or in built in 2004 r. Coello apartments. They offer more comfortable conditions: the country-style Hotel Triana and Rural Tamahuche. Several casas rurales also invite you to visit the valley, m.in. Nestor house lub El Guaidil. The Bodega Agana and Triana Restaurant serve good home-cooked meals. Tapas, sandwiches and delicious fruit cocktails are served at the Amaya Bar on Plaza de la Constitución. There are two restaurants in the vicinity of the beach: Oraz Iballa Maritime Park. Sandwiches and drinks can be purchased at the Iballa Bar. Tasty food at reasonable prices is served in the restaurant La Romantica, a few kilometers from Vallehermoso – an additional attraction are the beautiful views of the valley.

The most beautiful routes: Enchanting Reservoir

Views of the Vallehermoso valley, towering over it Roque Cano, banana plantations, orange and palm groves or finally the lagoon itself surrounded by mountains, it all does, that a trip to Embalse de la Encantadora is an unforgettable experience. From Vallehermoso the dam can be accessed by car on an asphalt road towards Los Chapines. Persons, who prefer to reach the dam on foot (ok. 2 at), they should follow a dirt road from Vallehermoso towards Garabato village, where the trail begins. Motorists must return to Vallehermoso after the traces, while the walkers, who want to catch up a little bit (ok. 3-4 at), they can return to Vallehermoso via the Garabato Dam route, Tierno cross and obok Roque Cano.
