The south of the island of Tenerife

The cookies

The intimate resort town of Las Galletas is the perfect place for people, who want to spend the night away from tourist resorts, and more than just sunbathing, they focus on traveling around the island. The black and narrow beach in Las Galletas is unfortunately not the most beautiful one, however, the undoubted advantage of the town is that, that still many of its inhabitants (unlike the big resorts, Las Galletas has inhabitants) is engaged in fishing, so you can eat freshly caught fish in seaside restaurants.

There is a tourist information office in Las Galletas. You can stay overnight at the inexpensive Los Vinitos Guesthouse, although for a longer stay it is better to book an apartment in the Apartamentos Ten-Bel Alborada complex, which – albeit built on the cliffs – has private access to the sea. The Nauta campsite is the cheapest option, approx. 1,5 km inland. Its not very attractive location is compensated by two swimming pools and tennis courts.
There are some good restaurants in the back streets of Las Galletas, although the ones on the seaside promenade are pretty decent too. It is worth visiting La Taberna del Mar, The Addntida and La Marina.
There are buses to the town from Los Cristianos (#467, 470) and from Santa Cruz de Tenerife (#112 i 115).

The Christians, Americas Beach and Costa Adeje

The Christians, Playa Americas and Costa Adeje is the place to be, that you either love or hate. Hotel, apartments, restaurants, bars, discos and shops stretching along a wide strip 10 km of the south coast leave very little room for a real Canarian atmosphere, they provide everything for that, what you need to have fun day and night.

The localities are slightly different from each other. The Christians, at least in the vicinity of the port, the shadow of the character of the former fishing village has been preserved, with charming streets built before the tourist boom. The resort of Playa Americas was established in the years 60. xxw. – the architects cared, so that tourists coming from the north of Europe feel at home, therefore it is difficult to find any element of local color here. In Costa Adeje, on the other hand, the main focus is on the discreet charm of elegance and luxurious hotels. Unfortunately, one rule applies to each of these places – this, that you are in the Canary Islands, can only be recognized by the advertisements of some restaurants in English, inviting for "typical Canarian potatoes", although you have to admit, that even such places are not here too many. Italian taverns are much easier to find, Chinese buffets or a typical English pub. However, the enclave of resorts has its advantages – the biggest of them is this, that thanks to such a powerful accommodation base, you can visit Tenerife for less and less money.
