Lanzarote – guide

Leisure with children

Lanzarote is a good place to stay with children. In addition to having fun on the beach and swimming in the sea or swimming pool, your stay on the island can be diversified with many attractions. If an ordinary swimming pool were not enough, you can go to the Aquapark in Costa Teguise, for underwater safaris and to the Lanzarote Aquarium. One of the attractions will probably be a camel ride in the Timanfaya National Park or a pony or carriage ride in La Geria.
The trip also includes a visit to the tropical zoo, Parque Tropical de Guinate,
Texas Ranch, Natural Park Las Pardelas and the Museum of Cetoceans of the Canary Islands.

Active recreation

Already on the beach there are many attractions - you can take diving lessons, surfing, kitesurfing and try your hand at parascending (parachute flight behind a motorboat). Amateurs of sea excursions can choose between a submarine and glass-bottomed cruises. Sailors will charter a yacht without any problems, and land rats can join organized cruises on sailboats and catamarans.

There are also many attractions waiting inland – the island can be visited during hiking, on horseback, on camels and bicycles, and in a slightly more extreme version – jeeps and quads. Those in need of adrenaline can go on paintball, and lovers of a little quieter sports have a perfectly prepared golf course at their disposal.

Hiking

There are easy walking routes in Lanzarote, but also challenging routes for summiters. By organizing any trip on your own, you need a good map or guide – in most cases these will really be the only clues. There are three guides for walkers: English Walk Lanzarote!, German Lanzarote and prepared by the island self-government Gula oficial de Senderos.
While the English and German publications were provided with excellent maps, so much for a Spanish guide, it is worth buying a complete set of maps of all the proposed routes – it's easy to get lost without them (the maps and descriptions contained in the book are not sufficient). Foreign guides can be ordered before departure on the websites of publishing houses (www.walking.demon.co.uk, www.rother.de) or buy on the spot, in bookstores and some gift shops. The Spanish guide is sold at tourist information offices and souvenir shops at centers run by the council, e.g.. w Jameos del Agua.

Organized hiking

Due to the poor marking of the trails, in Lanzarote, it is worth taking advantage of the help of companies organizing hiking trips. Such trips have nothing to do with bus trips around the island. He takes part in them at most 6-16 people, which, together with a guide who knows the island inside out, can visit the most inaccessible corners.
In addition, there is no need to worry about transport, because the organizers of such tours pick up participants from the hotel, and after the end of the trip, they put them right at the door. Most companies offer several permanent trekking programs (the graceful, Route of the Volcanoes, Corona Volcano).
