Gran canaria – guide

Leisure with children

Persons, who decide to travel with children, they will find many attractions for their children on Gran Canaria. Of course, At the beginning, the greatest attraction will be games and activities on the beautiful and peaceful beaches in the south of the island, however, once the fascination with water and sand has passed, it is worth going to one of the numerous theme parks created around the Maspalomas resort. You can move in time, going to Mundo Aborigen, where the Guanczów settlement was reconstructed, and to and to the Siux City park. Kids (and not only), which animals like, will be delighted to visit Palmitos Park, where you can see thousands of exotic birds and parrot shows.

Active recreation

Many people come to Gran Canaria just for that, to catch some sun and save yourself for all the times. Diving is possible on the island, learn windsurfing or go on a relaxing catamaran or cruise ship in search of dolphins. Land rats can take advantage of such attractions, like playing golf, bicycle tours, horseback riding or hiking. When you ride a camel through the Maspalomas dunes, it's easy to feel like you're in a real desert. Crazy jeeps and quad safaris are a very popular form of entertainment. You can see the island from a bird's eye view during a helicopter tour or by parachuting.

Hiking

Hundreds of perfectly marked routes have been prepared in Gran Canaria, suitable for people of different physical condition. This type of tourism is being promoted more and more on the island, therefore it is enough to ask for a map of the trails at the tourist information office. On the official website of the local government (www.senderos.grancanaria.com) there is information about trails, shelters and camping sites. When planning hiking trips, it is better to get a guide with precisely described routes and a map. The Gran Canaria guide of the German publishing house Rother is highly recommendable, available in German, Spanish and English (orders via www.rother.de). You can also order a book written by an Englishman, Roger Bradley, who has lived in Gran Canaria for many years, which he proposes 25 perfectly groomed routes (orders via the website www.fincabritanica.com).

If anyone would like to go hiking with the company, can join tours organized by the Trekking Mogan mountain club, for example (www.trekkingmogan.com, tours every Saturday, ok. 20 €) or by a nice pair of Englishmen,

Roger and Eilen Bradley, living in Fataga (www.fincabritanica.com), who can also organize an individual trip for any number of people. Rocky Adventure also organizes chargeable guided hikes (San Bartalome, Local B-37, Bahia Feliz; 928157265, info@rockyadventure.com, www.rockyadventure.com).
