Today we celebrate the Canary Islands festival, I am asking all lovers of these wonderful islands to sign a petition to stop the government's oil drilling project off the islands of Fuertaventura and Lanzarote. When there is a black tide - like this, which took place in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 r. - the consequences would be catastrophic for millions of people, and for the future of the entire archipelago. Simply put, none of the eight Canary Islands would have been spared, if there was a major oil spill in the area. I am asking for help and joint action to protect the Canary Islands.
