Communication, orientation and information
The line #107 łączy Garachico and Icod de Los Vinos, La Laguną and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (ok. 2 time.); #363 provides access to Puerto de la Cruz (ok. 1 time.).
Because there is no train station in Garachico, getting on the bus, best to ask the driver, to stay close to the center.
Tourist information offices are located at ul. Esteban de Ponte 5 (tel922133461; Mon-Thu. 10.00-19.00, pt. 10.00-14.00 i 15.00-19.00, sb. i nd. 10.00-13.00).
Accommodation and gastronomy
The number one on the Garachico hotel map is definitely La Quinta Roja (San Francisco roundabout; tel 922133377, www.quintaroja.com) in a beautiful 16th-century building in the heart of the old town. San Roque is in a similar style(cJsteban de Ponte 32; tel 922133435, www.hotelsanroque.com). The hotel El Patio, east of the city, is noteworthy (Malpaís Estate 11; tel 922133280, www.hotelpatio.com) in a 16th-century hacienda surrounded by banana plantations. Unfortunately, the town lacks cheaper accommodation.
There are two recommended restaurants in the vicinity of the swimming pools and the castle:
El Caletón by the pools (Avda. Take Cano 1; tel 922133301), where they serve very good grilled sardines, and the crowds of Garachico Casa Oaspar(Avda Republic of Venezuela 2; tel 922133106), serving excellent seafood and fish dishes. Restaurant Daute is located a few blocks behind the main square (c / Conde Del Palmar 12; tel 922830756), recommended by residents as one of these, where you eat like at mom's.
